If he manages to pot 25+ and over a PPG, teams better (frank)ing hope they hit a homerun when picking somebody other than him.

McKinnon is a pretty safe pick. So is Jones.

I really hope Barkov drops a few spots...and hopefully the Habs get another lottery pick in the lockout draft next summer.

Jones is struggling so far in Portland, new league and the usual American drain, but he's nowhere near what people were expecting yet added he's almost a year older than Barkov/MacKinnon. Mac is his only real competition and he's not even shown he's the best in the Q yet, Carrier is turning heads

There is a list of lottery balls between 3, 2 and 1. It's on TSN.

5 Balls: Columbus
3 Balls: Calgary, Carolina, Dallas, Minnesota, New York Islanders, Toronto, Winnipeg
2 Balls: Anaheim, Buffalo, Colorado, Florida, St. Louis, Tampa Bay
1 Ball: Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Edmonton, Montreal, Nashville, New Jersey, Ottawa, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Jose, Vancouver, Washington

...the Blue Jackets would have just a 9.6% chance of winning.

What would the league-wide reaction be to Nathan MacKinnon in Pittsburgh? What about Los Angeles? And my, oh my, imagine if the Leafs won the lottery.

Now that Bob McKenzie has thrown his hat into the ring, it's time to unveil the initial 2013 Consensus Draft Rankings. The sources for the consensus list are Bob McKenzie, Future Considerations, ISS, Corey Pronman of Hockey Prospectus, and The Scouting Report.

Tidbits on the draft from nhlnumbers

The initial top 30 is heavily weighted in favor of forwards. There are 21 forwards in the initial top 30, compared to 17 in 2012's initial rankings

Two sons of ex-NHL players are in the top 30: Max Domi and Kerby Rychel.
Only one goaltender is in the top 30: Halifax's Zach Fucale.

Speaking of Halifax, they lead the way with 3 players in the top 30: Mackinnon, Fucale and Jonathan Drouin.

The current league breakdown is as follows: OHL - 7, QMJHL - 6, WHL - 5, SEL - 4, Sm-Liiga - 3, USHL - 3, KHL - 2. That's more balance than the draft has seen in quite some time.

The breakdown by nationality: Canada - 15, USA - 6, Finland - 3, Russia - 3, Sweden - 3

Each of the 30 teams get three balls to start off with. For every playoff appearance a team had during the 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons, they'd get a ball taken away. For every first overall pick a team had in the corresponding drafts, that was another ball taken away, down to a minimum of one ball per team. Put all the remaining balls into the lottery ball machine and start drawing teams. The draft order for the first round is determined once all 30 teams have been chosen and all the duplicates discarded.
